The industry’s digital agenda

The Construction Equipment Forum 2019 brought together decision-makers from manufacturers, suppliers, and buyers across the construction machinery industry for the second time, on 26–27 November 2019. The conference and accompanying exhibition provided a focused platform for senior leaders to align on where digitalisation is taking the sector.

The theme of the 2019 edition was unambiguous: Smart Construction Machines: The Digital Construction Industry 2025. Three strategic pillars structured the programme:

• Smart Construction: connected machines, site data integration, and the transition from reactive to predictive operations
• New Drives: alternative powertrains and their implications for machine monitoring and energy management
• Autonomisation: the path toward semi- and fully autonomous construction equipment, and the data infrastructure it requires

Why this matters for telematics

All three pillars share a common foundation: the ability to collect, transmit, and act on machine data in real time. Telematics is not a feature of the digital construction site. It is the connective tissue. Without reliable data from every machine on site, the ambitions of Smart Construction remain theoretical.

Commander addresses this through OEM integration capabilities. Construction machinery from major manufacturers already carries embedded sensors and connectivity. Commander aggregates that data, via AEMP 2.0 / ISO 15143-3 interfaces, into a single platform, without requiring additional hardware on the machine. Fleet managers gain a unified view of their entire site, regardless of brand or equipment type.
