One product. Live tracking, logbook, tachograph, zones, bookings, service, and analytics are all modules of the single Commander platform, you switch them on as you need them, rather than buying separate systems.

What hardware do I need?

It depends on what you want to track. For vehicles and machines you install a Rosenberger telematics device; tools and small equipment are tracked by beacon. Where a data source already exists, such as OEM telematics (passenger-car manufacturers) or ISO 15143-3 machine data, you connect it as a virtual device with no additional hardware.

Do I need a SIM card? How does connectivity work?

No, every Rosenberger telematics device ships with a SIM card or chip already built in. Connectivity is included in one flat monthly price per device and covers data transmission across Europe. There is nothing for you to provision or manage.

Is Commander suitable for construction machinery and equipment?

Yes. Commander tracks not just vehicles but machines, containers, and loose equipment. For heavy equipment it records operating hours and machine utilisation, documents what a machine did inside a site zone, and ingests ISO 15143-3 machine data directly, the standard for construction-equipment telematics.

Can Commander track assets without ignition or power?

Yes. Containers, trailers, and tools without ignition are tracked either with a battery-powered telematics device or via beacon proximity detection. They appear on the same live map as the telematics devices connected directly in your vehicles and machines.

How are private trips protected?

Private-trip protection is enforced at the data layer. On a private trip, positions, routes, and addresses are removed before the data reaches a manager, across the logbook, history, exports, and reports. Only the driver can see the detail.

Where is my data stored?

In a private cloud operated by conova in Salzburg, Austria. All data stays in Austria, is GDPR-compliant, and is retained for 12 months by default, longer on request.
